Anyak — From Leaf to Roots to Blend
Cinematic digital storytelling experience revealing the soul of handcrafted Assam tea.
Problem
Traditional tea brands rely on static e-commerce grids that fail to capture the heritage, soil-to-roots journey, and artisan handcrafting labor behind premium single-estate leaves.
Solution
Created a cinematic pre-launch story flow where scroll interactions reverse-unfold a tea pellet, guiding users through Assam's gardens, rural cooperatives, traditional tools (Dala), and a full-circle harvest narrative.
Approach
Leveraged GSAP ScrollTrigger and Lenis smooth scrolling for scroll-driven animations. Styled with deep forest greens, earthy browns, warm cream, and traditional Gamosa red accents.
Architecture
High-performance Next.js App Router, GSAP timeline sequencing, and Lenis scroll synchronization deployed to Vercel.
Outcome
- Developed a full-circle interactive scroll narrative (pellet-to-soil-to-harvest-to-pellet).
- Integrated authentic Assamese cultural elements (Dala, Gamosa red accents).
- Designed a premium early-access reservation system with blurred teaser shop previews.
- Achieved smooth, high-fidelity scroll animations using GSAP & Lenis.
Case Study
Overview
Anyak is a cinematic digital storytelling experience rather than a traditional e-commerce store. It guides visitors through the complete lifecycle of handcrafted Assam tea.
- Philosophy: "Every blend contains a story. We invite visitors to discover the life hidden inside tea."
- Brand Image: Luxury tactile brand identity emphasizing community, heritage, and soil-to-roots origins.
- Aesthetic: Deep forest greens, warm cream, and gold, with red accents inspired by traditional Gamosa textiles.
The Scroll Journey
The website translates the tea's lifecycle into an interactive scroll narrative:
- Pellet Unfolding: Time-reversed scroll where a compressed tea pellet unfolds back into green leaves.
- Assam Soil Emergence: The leaves transform into a living tea plant rooted in the earth.
- Misty Tea Gardens: Showcases Assam's landscapes, morning sun, and rolling plantation hills.
- Surface to Roots: Explores the heritage, community knowledge, and local traditions beneath the surface.
- Handcrafting & Craft: Showcases harvesters, women-led cooperatives, and traditional Assamese tools like the Dala (bamboo trays).
- Full-Circle Return: The leaves curl and compress back into their finished pellet form, completing the story.
Technical Architecture
- Animations: GSAP & ScrollTrigger sequence the intricate narrative scroll timelines.
- Smooth Scroll: Lenis ensures buttery-smooth momentum scrolling across devices.
- Frontend: Next.js App Router, React, and TypeScript deployed on Vercel.
- Strategy: Blurred product teasers and early-access email reservation forms to build brand exclusivity.
